गुर का दर्शन देख देख जीवा, गुर के चरण धोए धोए पीवा.
Beholding the Blessed Vision of the Guru’s Darshan, I live.
I wash the Guru’s Feet, and drink in this water.
A year back, I found peace exactly at the time, when I needed it the most. The blessings came from the Guru who lives in Gurudwara.
We all go through a rough time in life when we do not want to discuss it with anyone, and we do not want someone else to ask us anything about it.
We lose some materialistic possessions, which we feel we didn’t deserve to lose, as we earned it in a hard way.
Yes it was an offshore opportunity which I lost, and I was aching inside.
Reality is that materialistic things are inanimate and our earning them do not promise their staying with us forever, as connection to them is only one-sided.
It is easy for people to say- ‘Be grateful, praise others.’
But when one is hurt, he needs strength in giving peace, love, praises and shower gratefulness for others!
The Guru’s place has langar (a place where everyone is provided food), the Sikhs put their soul into this, they make us understand that love and attitude of giving others bring peace and humbleness.
I found a place where all my inner prayers and peace was revived, a place which gave me strength, a place where no one asks you anything, as there is only one Akal Purakh (omnipresent divine),the Guru, who knows it all.
Climbing the stairs of Gurudwara on a Gurpurab Day and visiting the place for the first time, I saw Guru Gobind Singh ji’s photo, such powerful was the aura of this warrior saint.
It is at this place that I met Harpreet, who must be in her teens. This girl was very lively and was serving food in langar.
She smiled and welcomed my conversation; in no time she merrily began teaching me to serve food in plates to people who are sitting in langar.
And suddenly I saw an air ticket fell from her pocket. I picked it up and saw-it was that day’s flight to USA.
When I asked her about it, she changed my life by saying- ‘It was an abroad studying opportunity, and tomorrow is my university joining date. But today is Gurpurab, and I choose my Guru’s light over all glitters present in the world.’
‘I got my peace; I got my answer. And with today’s Gurpurab, once again I await and welcome the presence of the Guru, his love and oneness which connects all of us to million possibilities of peace, strength, love and light.’
