Goodness Returns | Air of East | An Indian’s way of Story Telling

Huff and puff. I was running late for my office!

This is the third occasion, and I was a bit apprehensive of fetching an excuse of reaching late to my boss.

It was a scorching sunny day, and as roads were filled with big pot holes, I looked here and there to find not even a single commute. I look at an old man sitting inside a rickshaw. Although, I do not take this mode for travelling, as it makes me feel less good.  I being a human being, taking help of another human being for carrying much weight in the rickshaw and pulling.

I had no option and asked, ‘Uncle would you please help me reach. Twenty minutes it takes.’

He agreed with a nod.

Once inside, he started pedaling the rickshaw. Barely travelled two minutes, the chain of the rickshaw came out. The man had no option but to get down and start walking and pulling the rickshaw with all his strength.

That was the first time, I realised I should have continued my Keto diet!

After going a little distance, I saw a cab. I got down and took the cab. Before that, I paid him a little more with a petite lie, ‘I do not have the exact amount.’

He was sweating profusely. I offered him wet tissues that I had with me

I got inside the cab and as I was moving, I saw him wiping his face and neck with wet tissues as well as found a soft smile on his face that was so pure.

That day, I had much work at my office and I left office quite late. I assumed it will be much difficult to get a cab today. After about an hour, having waited patiently, a cab came and I got inside. On reaching my home, I asked the driver his fare. He said, ‘Madam, I am no driver, I am in Indian Embassy, just returned to my native. I come from Egypt, was returning from the airport. I saw you standing alone at the highway bus station, so I offered a hand. My work is done, you have reached safely.’

He waived his hand and bid goodbye.

Lesson learnt: The blessings of the soul, whom I met in the morning saved me reach my home safely at the wee hours of the night!

Goodness done returns unconditionally, you never know which good deed will come back to help and save you in unexpected situations.
